The action of the armature being rotated due to the travel of the flight causes the ceramic magnet to sweep past the sensor tripping the sensor and sending a signal to the PLC or SCADA system. The system can be programmed to assess for loss of motion, chain elongation, and asymmetrical chain or flight conditions (chain jump on one side) sending an alarm when warranted.
The armature / target arrangement eliminates the need for attaching targets on each flight, insures absolute correct alignment between sensor and target, cuts down on nuisance alarms.
